Follow-Up Questions/Answers
Can you summarise this case for me?
- This young woman presented with an isolated transient episode of slurred
- There was no headache in the history, this was on the background of recurrent miscarriages but there were no vascular risk factors.
- Whilst there was a family history of cerebral vascular disease this was in an elderly relative and I do not think that this is pertinent to the case.
- Examination revealed a normal pulse rate which was regular. There were no obvious cardiac murmurs and there was no carotid bruit.
- While I did not formally assess lower limb, power gait and tandem gait were both normal and there were no other clear focal neurological deficits.
- In summary, I think this patient has had a transient ischaemic attack.
